Fork and shock manufacturers base the required service intervals on hours of riding. If your usual ride is around 5 hours, and you get to go twice a week, your suspension should receive a 50hr service after 5 weeks. After 100 hours or ten weeks of riding, a 100hr service is needed. Aggressive riders and racers will want to stick to those service intervals closely. But for most riders, a 50hr service twice a season and a 100hr service once a season will maintain the performance of their shock or fork.
